If you are looking for a bespoke wedding dress London, I would be delighted to help you design and make your gown. I have been working as a bespoke wedding dress specialist since 2007, making dresses for 10 or 15 brides a year. I make all styles from understated simplicity, vintage or period styles to the wild and wonderful. There is more than one dress design I have had go viral and I am famous for my colour and dipdye work. Many alternative brides struggle to find their perfect dress until they find me to help.
At Felicity Westmacott, we bring your unique vision to life, infusing timeless beauty with a personal twist. Explore our bespoke dress options for something both adventurous and meaningful. Your style, your story, your moment. Choose your inspiration and let’s craft it perfectly.
You can learn more about me and how I learned to make dresses on my about me page.

Where to find a bespoke wedding dress London
I work from my shop studio in Surrey which easy to get to on the train or round the M25. I have a large consultation area and two fitting rooms with big mirrors. My full address is on the footer on every page of my website and a link to a google map can be found on the contact page.
I have worked with brides from all over the UK, including more locally in Surrey, London and further afield. Brides have visited me from as far away as Edinburgh, Germany and Switzerland. When a client from ever further away looks to work with me I have arranged to create a ‘made to measure’ wedding dress which, unlike true bespoke, requires no in person fittings.

The story of a bespoke wedding dress
Every dress tells a story, especially when it’s crafted just for you. At Felicity Westmacott, bespoke wedding dresses aren’t just fabric and stitches; they’re your dreams brought to life. Each gown I create is as unique as the bride who wears it. Imagine walking down the aisle in a dress that mirrors your true self. From initial sketches to the final fitting, our process celebrates your individuality, ensuring perfect fit and unparalleled comfort. Whether it’s a modern masterpiece or a nod to history, your style is my inspiration. Experience the art of bespoke with me and let your dress whisper the story of you.
We start with a consultation, where we explore your design ideas and fabrics. It is important to look over the ideal making schedule for your wedding date. I can then create your quotation letter with sketches which you can use to compare to any other options you have explored. Once you are ready to book your bespoke wedding dress with me, a booking in fee is due to secure your slot in my sewing timetable.
Fabrics for your bespoke wedding dress London
I have fabric sample books at my studio we can look through to decide what is best for the style of your dress. I am happy to advise to suit your budget and the season of your wedding. My favourite suppliers include Bridal Fabrics and Bennett Silks. I always give a yardage guide in the quote which you can use if you are sourcing your own fabrics elsewhere.
London still has a few big fabric districts. Other cities like Brighton and Nottingham are also famous for materials but buying online has become the norm now. I do find that being in my studio with the sample books and the rolls of fabric is very useful. It means brides can handle different types of materials and feel how they flow. Even if later you buy elsewhere you will have the terminology to describe what you are looking for.

The first fittings – measuring and the toile
We might start work with something like 4 or 6 months to your wedding date. If required I can also work on a tighter timetable or more spaced out to fit around a busy work schedule. The first appointment will be to measure you so I can create your individual dress pattern. After that I create a toile, which is a practice run of the design, made in cheap fabrics. At the toile fitting we can asses if the design I am making matches your expectations. We can make changes to perfect the fit, and tweak the style. We can make sure the neckline is exactly the right depth, the skirt flows as you would like and the train is the right length. Sometimes design decisions are purposefully left until the toile fitting. For example if you can’t decide between two sleeve lengths, I can make a toile with one sleeve long and one short for you to compare and choose.
Later fittings and collection
I then proceed to cut out and sew your wedding dress in the real fabrics. You will visit me for more fittings, at least 3, sometimes (but not often) as many as 5 or 6. So we can work through the whole process checking everything is right as we go.
When your dress is finished I will steam it ready for your final collection. Some people collect their beposke wedding dress London as soon as it is complete. But if that is still a few months before the wedding day some brides prefer to leave their final fitting and collection date until closer to the wedding day. I am happy to store dresses safely in my studio until it suits you best. Final payments are due when the dress is finished, before they can be taken away.
