Amanda commissioned a custom orange bridesmaid dress for each of her four bridesmaids and five cravats for the groomsmen. The princess line dresses had strapless sweet-heart necklines with a ‘ballet’ style gathered piece at centre front. Each orange bridesmaid dress was made from a copper coloured silk-dupion with honey coloured tulle peeping out from the tea-length hem. An invisible zip fastened the back of the dress.

thank you testimonial bespoke bridesmaid dress

Amanda wrote: At such a special time as your wedding you want professional people who you can trust and get along with to be involved in the crucial big day elements such as bridesmaid dresses, and Felicity was just that. The dresses exceeded our expectations in terms of quality of the workmanship and they were ready ahead of schedule; if you are planning your own wedding, ‘ahead of schedule’ is a phrase you’ll come to delight in! Felicity was very easy to work with, she always gave good advice whilst having the creative and technical understanding to help create the final product. My bridesmaids were very comfortable and happy in their dresses and I was so pleased with them too, they looked beautiful. I had such a special wedding day, helped by people such as Felicity. I have already recommended her to friends.

The mother of the bride wrote: Dear Felicity, very many thanks for producing such beautiful dresses, the girls are really thrilled with them. We will send you some photos after the wedding with them all looking glamorous I’m sure. Mind you I mustn’t forget the ties. Anyway thanks again and best wishes, Jean Billige

Modern ‘scrunchy tie’ style cravats were made for Amanda’s wedding party each with a matching hankie. All the cravats were with a simple neck-band and clip for ease of dressing. Eight were made in the copper silk dupion to match the bridesmaids’ dresses and a single one in ivory silk-dupion for the groom.

As a wedding dress maker, I would say the fitting process is when I need my brides to trust in me the most. It's all well and good showing them beautiful drawings and fabrics, but when it comes to those first fittings, things can look very different to what you imagined. And that's fine!

All art goes through a process, whether it's layering oil paints on a canvas, or refining the clay of a sculpture...but an artist knows, it will all be worth it in the end.

I think the finished result looks absolutely beautiful, and that’s thanks to those fittings, where I could refine, check and double check, and make sure this bride’s dress fitted her perfectly!

If you want to see photos from Laura's wedding day with this dress in action, on a beautiful, snowy day, then have a look at my earlier post.

Watch til the end to see this beautifully ethereal dip-dyed wedding dress 👗

I did 4 rounds of dyeing to get the perfect, dusk to midnight blue ombre, but it was so worth it!

I do a lot of custom dip dying, and I've noticed that blue is really on trend at the moment. But what's wonderful, is that there's still so much variety that can be had. My dip dying service comes entirely customisable, with up to five possible colours in the gradient. Some brides choose blues, but include purples and even black into their colour choices. Other brides stick with paler hues, whilst others go for the deeper, darker shades. It's always exciting to see my brides' imaginations running wild!

What colours would you add to your wedding dress?
