Custom flower girl dress Surrey

handmade child bridesmaid dress in mid pink silk dupion with puffed sleeves

I think every little girl’s dream is being a flower girl and wearing the dress of her dreams, perhaps a custom flower girl dress Surrey. I made this dress for Eleanor’s wedding, along with four bespoke dresses for the adult bridesmaids as well. The wedding colour theme was a spring palette or pinks, ivory and pale gold. I made the flower girl dress is a rose pink silk dupion with an ivory organza sash.

Planning a custom flower girl dress Surrey

Making a custom dress for growing children can be a tricky business with timing. We all want everything ready in good time before the wedding, but children grow in unpredictable spurts. And families can be difficult to pin-down for fittings around busy activity schedules. As an experienced bespoke dressmaker and a mum of three myself I am good at working out at ideal fitting timetable to take all these things into account.

The custom flower girl dress was fully lined. With a layer of stiff netting to create fullness under the full length skirt. I designed her dress with a square neckline to echo the neckline’s of the older bridesmaids while being age appropriate. The pretty puffed capped sleeves were feminine and sweet.

I embellished the neckline of the custom flower girl dress with tiny appliqué flowers in ivory and pale gold. Then I added sparkle with real Swarovski crystals, every little girls’ dream.

The sash was made of ivory organza, embroidered with delicate gold sprigs of flowers. At the back the sash tied in a statement bow with long sash ends.

I also made a sweet little waistcoat for the page boy, and a silk bow-tie in fabrics to match the older groomsmen.

I also made the bride’s wedding dress which was in a Victorian inspired historical style, all in pale blue silk. You can see more about Eleanor’s bespoke wedding dress for her Surrey wedding here.

Dream Dresses

Having a custom flower girl dress surrey made for your wedding is the perfect way to make sure your flower girl feels special. Many people choose an off the peg dress for their younger attendants but its very difficult to find any dresses in a colour other than ivory, or a style that’s not run of the mill. So if you are looking for something unique having a dress made to order is a great idea.

Story time!

Remember the Swan Lake themed wedding photoshoot I featured a few days' ago?

When the day came for the shoot, we were blessed with one of the sunniest days of the year so far (and this was March), but the ground was still very wet. We really wanted to get some photos amongst the trees for that real fairy tale feeling, but our beautiful bride, @alicia.modelling_x didn't want to risk ruining the outfit.

And that's when I stepped in!

You may think that a seamstress is only on set to help with the dress. But I'm here to do anything that might be useful to the shoot, and if that means carrying Alicia across the boggy ground, then that's what I'll do! 😂
(I was quite pleased that all my work on strength with @mybodyrocksstudio is paying off!)

If you want a seamstress who will not only make the perfect bespoke wedding dress for you, but will also go the extra mile for you, I think you know who to call 😉

Today is my birthday, so I wanted to share something I've been grateful for almost every year of my life.

I started ballet lessons when I was four, moving on to the Lewiston School of Dance until 18 (I even won the Pointe Work cup with them once). My grandmother had been a professional dancer and my mum also took ballet lessons (and still does, at over 70!), so there has always been a lot of ballet in my family.

When I went to uni, I stopped dancing, then came back to it in the form of adult ballet lessons with my mum, and then got pregnant. After that I found aerial hoop, which replaced dancing as my active hobby. However, my ballet training has really helped my progress in hoop, and I'm very grateful for the skills I continue to draw upon for both hoop and acting.

What's a hobby you're grateful to have started, no matter what stage in life?

(and shout out to @hair_by_tel for capturing this video of me playing around during a recent bridal photoshoot)
