When everyone else in the wedding party has custom made clothes it would be shame to not also make a bespoke page boy waistcoat. I was asked to design and make this little set for the four year old Barnaby.

Barnaby’s waistcoat matched the grown-up groomsmen. His bow-tie was made on a clip so it could be pinned onto his shirt for a super-easy wear. I used an ivory brocade fabric and made matching cover buttons using the materials as well. The pockets are decorative only, though if someone wanted a tiny waistcoat with real pockets, perhaps to be a ring bearer, that would also be possible. His bow-tie was made of a blue an gold shot silk dupion.
Other sewing for the same wedding
I also made the flower girl’s dress. We used a mid rose pink silk dupion and an ivory embroidered organza for the ruched sash. I finished her dress with sweet little puffed sleeves and a long full skirt.
You can see more details of the bespoke flower girl dress I made for Eleanor’s wedding day in her dedicated blog post.

In fact this wedding was very much a Felicity Westmacott design feast. I made Eleanor’s wedding dress too. Her dress was designed using a mix of Victorian, 18th century and modern elements. And her adult bridesmaids each had a bespoke silk bridesmaid dress in shades of pink, ivory and gold. The bespoke page boy waistcoat was very much a part of the overall look for this wedding day.

Ordering a bespoke page boy waistcoat
When I made a bespoke page boy waistcoat it’s important to get the timings right on measuring and fittings. In fact not many fittings are needed as it’s not a ‘tight’ garment, but one still has to allow for growth spurts. So I usually suggest starting work about 6-8 weeks before the wedding day to ne finished with 2-4 weeks to spare.
