Blush chiffon wedding dress

Cristina commissioned a blush chiffon wedding dress. I made her dress in palest pink silk georgette over satin linings. The chiffons layers were draped to flatter her tiny waist and full bust.

Official photographs by Sarah Lauren:

I made the dress with a fitted and boned bodice with round neckline and straps. Draped georgette is ruched in a cross over design across the front bodice and flows into the skirt with waterfalls from the hip. I cut the skirt as a full circle which hangs straight to the floor in these soft fabrics. I made sure that though dress fastens with a hidden zip, it is to one side allowing the back bodice to have unbroken ruching across its width. The subtle colour ‘blush’ of the georgette was perfect for her summer wedding day

Cristina has a perfect hourglass figure with a tiny waist but fuller hips and bust so the structure of the bodice was important. We needed to provide support for the bust while keeping the overall look of the dress soft and flowing.

Cristina was kind enough to nominate me for a Bridal Industry award. here is what she said in her nomination:?She was patient, knowledgeable, & trustworthy. She went out of her way to make the dress design & fittings a relaxed & fun experience. She listened well and completely understood the vision I had for my dress, and made me feel confident & beautiful.”

Thank you letter for a blush chiffon wedding dress

Cristina said: I hope you can see from these pictures that the dress was just beautiful. You were friendly and approachable, and made the whole process just a treat. I felt glamorous ad romantic yet comfortable and like myself in the dress. I couldn’t ask for anything more. Thanks and best wishes to you and your family, Cristina.

Original Design Sketch for a blush chiffon wedding dress

Cristina opted to have her blush chiffon dress without a train. Instead, the fluted look of the hip waterfall and the roll hem of the main skirt created enough interest. This left Cristina un-encumbered for her outdoor wedding day.

Making Cristina’s ethereal blush chiffon Dress

Making Cristina’s dress included the a ‘toile’ fitting which is a practice run of the dress made up in cheap materials.

You can see another blush wedding dress I made here, this time for an Edinburgh castle wedding.

And I have a page dedicated to pink wedding dresses I have designed for you to explore the range of that beautiful colour.

With leaves starting to change to colour, my thoughts have turned to autumn. So I'm sharing my process for this autumn inspired dip dye wedding outfit;
🍁 deciding I wanted to layer a dip dye overskirt on top of the bridal playsuit
🍁choosing lots of warm, rich colours that make me think of autumn leaves carpeting a forest floor
🍁 cutting the tulle of the skirt to the right length
🍁 gradually blending each layer of colour, using an ombre of yellow, orange, brown and just a little bit of gold at the end
…and then the finished product!

Doesn't this bridal outfit look right at some in the woods?

If you love the idea of an overskirt for your wedding dress, drop me a DM and let’s talk colour palettes!

This is what a bespoke veil with almost 400 flowers looks like.

On top of some other alterations, @katiepigden wanted a chic, modern bridal veil. We chose a length a little longer than her dress and I got to work.
Her wedding dress already had these beautifully delicate 3D flowers on the bodice, so we echoed this design element in the veil. I hand embellished almost 400 satin flowers, selectively scattered at the hem of the veil and gently creeping up. I wanted it to look as though Katie had been standing underneath a blossoming tree and some had happened to fall onto her veil.

A veil is such a perfect way of finishing off a bridal look, and I think Katie looks stunning. If you're looking for something completely custom for your wedding day, then get in touch 💜
