As well as making wedding dresses for my brides another joy of my job is designing gowns for wedding inspiration photoshoots. Each time I make a dress for a bride all the work goes towards making the dress speak for them, their ideas, their style, their big day. When I make a dress for a photoshoot I get to flex my own creative flare a bit differently. Each different theme gives me an opportunity to explore styles and techniques I would like to offer my brides that I have not yet been asked for.
Wedding dress styled photoshoots are usually a collaborative team effort. A group of like minded wedding suppliers work together to create inspiration for future wedding couples along with aspirational ideas. A full shoot takes all day and might include everything from venue decoration, a tablescape, food, dress, suit, flowers, cars, cake and many small wedding details. Smaller scale shoots are sometimes just one model and a narrower focus like hair and make-up on the wedding morning.

The dresses I make for wedding inspiration photoshoots have no purpose beyond the shoot day. Sometimes they might get used for other shoots but mostly they come home to me and hang in my shop space to be used as reference during consultations.
I sometimes have time to list them for sale on my website or on Etsy. It is quite difficult to re-home these dresses as they are made to fit the models, who are often either a very small or a plus size shape! And of course the dresses are not in perfect condition having been worn once for a photoshoot.

How the photoshoots are used
Behind the scenes on the 'City Burlesque' photoshoot I organised to feature one of my most popular designs. The Dress-coat was made in Cadbury purple, see the full wedding inspiration photoshoot here.
Once the final edits have been completed by the professional photographer, the photos and video are submitted to online wedding blogs or print magazines in the hope of publication. If the content fits the publisher's vibe everyone benefits from the wedding inspiration photoshoot with shared links and credits. We also all use the pictures for our own business social media and websites of course.
