Whimsical Wedding Details #1: Back Necklaces
You could have all the beautiful sparkles of your wedding look at the front, but why wouldn`t you add something beautiful to the back as well?
So much time and thought goes into choosing the perfect bridal jewellery - earring, necklace, bracelet and so on. But your guests will often see all angles of you and your dress;
▫️ standing at the alter
▫️ greeting other guests
▫️during your first dance
I love adding small details that make a big difference, and I think back necklaces are one of those design elements that are both unexpected and delightful. And these examples demonstrate how varied they can be; from a delicate spider`s web forming a star, to decadent layers of glistening beads for a 1930s inspired look.
I`ve always loved making jewellery, so getting to combine that passion with my dressmaking is such a treat.

These photos from Stevie never cease to make my jaw drop. They`re like a gorgeous combination of Morticia Adams, Vampira and the iconic Bride of Frankenstein.
Stevie saw the original Morticia dress I`d made for a styled wedding shoot and wanted one of their own, with a few adjustments to make it completely unique to them.
I`ve made four of the Morticia wedding dress now, following the first photoshoot version, and each time it`s such a thrill to see brides who are unapologetically themselves, looking so breath-taking.

One of the pleasures of having my own shop, is I also get some alone time.
If you have a busy life you know the rare joy of getting to hang out with just yourself sometimes.
Which isn`t to say I don`t love welcoming brides into my shop - I absolutely do.
But I don`t think I could ever have a colleague in the shop with me (not full time, anyway).
Not after working for myself for 25 years, and being used to how I like to to do things.
Isn`t that the difference between being alone and lonely. I am alone, but very much not lonely.

This custom dip dye overskirt was the perfect pop of colour for Tanja`s wedding dress. And with autumn well and truly here, I wanted to celebrate those beautiful colours.
Her floor length skirt included:
💛a graduated hi-low hem to match the dress underneath
🧡two layers of soft tulle
🩷hand dyed with four vibrant colours; yellow, orange, red and burgundy
❤️snaps along the waist for easy attachment and removal to the wedding dress
My bespoke ombre overskirts have so many other customisation options as well. From extra layers of tulle or lining fabric, to finishing off the waistband with ribbon or a pretty beaded belt. And I have over 30 colours to choose from, so there are almost limitless options.
